Crossal is a Gaelic word meaning “The pass in the rocks”. Crossal House was once the only house in the glen.

The house is about 100 years old and retains much of its original charm.

We are centrally located on the island with extensive views of the Cuillin Mountains.

We are just 2 miles from Sligachan, Skye’s premier walking and climbing centre.

The Sligachan Hotel produces fine ales from is own “Cuillin Brewery”.

After a hearty Crossal breakfast to start your day, you will not need to travel far, as the area is a paradise for

Bird Watchers, Photographers, Artists, and Climbers.

We have the most stunning sunrise/sunsets/moonrise and stargazing all from our front door.

The clarity of the air means there is much activity to observe in the sky at night and we often see shooting stars.

If you plan to venture into the Cuillin Mountains, be it walking, scrambling or climbing,

we recommend the use of a local guide to make your day more enjoyable.

Cuillin Guide, Tony Hanly, lives nearby - see his website at www.climbskye.co.uk

Also recommended - Graham Paterson -  www.skyehi.co.uk

Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle and the island's capital, Portree are all within 15 minutes drive.

Packed lunches can be provided and, if you get caught in the rain, drying facilities are available.
